Music & Poetry: Haydn Seven Last Words,

in support of The Samaritans - 13-15 April 19

Haydn's wonderful Seven Last Words with Christopher Kent alongside the celebrated Bridge String Quartet will be performed over Palm Sunday weekend, 13-15 April in Chiswick, Bloomsbury and Barnes, with all proceeds going to The Samaritans.

I hope you can make it. See below for all the details.

The work was commissioned in 1786 by the Bishop of Cádiz and we're aiming to recreate the atmosphere of the original performance by interlacing Haydn's timeless, soul-searching music with readings by me of classic and contemporary secular poetry, including works by Shakespeare, Emily Dickinson, Mary Oliver, Philip Larkin and others.

It is a privilege to be working again with the superb Bridge Quartet, an internationally celebrated ensemble with a discography of over 50 recordings. I collaborated with them a couple of times last year and their playing is absolutely beautiful. These will be moving and memorable events - please do join us if you can.

Tickets are £10 online in advance or £15 on the door with all proceeds to the Samaritans.
